UNH CHi OMEGA
Hi! My name is Abby Boyle, and I am the Panhellenic Delegate and Philanthropy Chair for Chi Omega! I am so excited to have been elected into exec, with a new twist of having both positions as one. Working with UNH’s Fraternity Sorority Life on campus and with Make-A-Wish New Hampshire has been both exciting and challenging, but I love everything that comes with the job.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions. The cost of each wish is $10,000. For the past 3 years, Mu Alpha has been a wish-granting chapter, meaning that we have raised our goals and have been able to grant wishes to children in New Hampshire! In 2019, we granted the wish for Emma an 8-year-old battling brain aneurysms. Her wish was to have a treehouse built in her backyard for her friends and family to visit her in. She invited us to her unveiling and even gave us a tour of her house! It was so rewarding for our sisters to be able to go, celebrate Emma, and see all the hard work that we all put into making her wish come true.
Our two biggest fundraisers are Mr. UNH and Swishes for Wishes. In the fall, Mr. UNH is an exciting all-male beauty pageant. In the Spring, Swishes for Wishes is a 5v5 basketball tournament. Both events are a fun way to get the entire campus involved in fundraising and supporting Make-A-Wish NH, and we have such great support from local businesses and our UNH community with these events.
Being a part of Chi Omega has changed my life in so many ways and has given me opportunities I would never have imagined in college. Including the opportunities to help make a change and to give back to our community, to people who need it. I am truly thrilled to be elected into this position and cannot wait to work with our sisters and other organizations on campus to raise money for Make-A-Wish and to be a wish-granting chapter for a fourth year in a row!
